The location and the surroundings of Martam Retreat is ideal for conducting yoga and meditation camps, corporate activities such as conferences and meetings, private parties, classes in Buddhism inviting learned monks from Rumtek Monastery etc. and other activities which require peace and tranquility for reflective and inspirational thinking.

Guests can easily take a day trip to Gangtok, Ranipul, Temi Tea Garden etc. and be back at the Retreat to enjoy the most delicious dinner prepared by our expert chefs and to the comforts of our spacious rooms.

The world famous Rumtek Monastery is just fifteen minutes drive away or an hour and half trek.

The village and the forest beckon the guests to explore Martam, to interact with the villagers, to learn the way of life of the village folks, the real Sikkim. Local guides are available to guide the guests through the village, showing them the flora and fauna in the village and the farming techniques. One can also go on bird and butterfly watching trips and trek into the Fambongla Wildlife Sanctuary and if lucky one might just spot the red panda in the wild and other animals such as the barking deer, civets, pheasants, etc.

Suggested itineraries

1) Bagdogra/NJP – Singtam – Martam spend a few days exploring the village and visiting the close by tourist destinations like Rumtek Monastery, Fambongala Wild Life Sanctuary, Sang Monastery, Changey Waterfall etc. From here carry on to other destinations.
2) Martam – Rumtek Monastery – Ranka Monastery – Banjakhri Falls – Gangtok (Cottage Industry, Enchey Monastery, Flower Show, Tibetology) – Epica Garden – Martam.
3) Martam – Temi Tea Garden – Samduptse – Singtam – Martam.
4) Bird/Butterfly spotting walks.
5) Village discovery walks.
6) Martam – Gangtok – Changu Lake – Baba Mandir – Nathula – Gangtok – Martam.
7) Fambongla Wildlife Sanctuary Trek/ Hike to Rumtek.
8) Drive to Gangtok and spend the day there.
